Innkeeper's Notes

What an Innkeeper Notices in a 758-Room Casino Hotel

When you spend your daily life running a small guesthouse, you view large commercial hotels through a very specific lens. You do not just see decor or river views; you notice cart placement, door seals, elevator transit times, and how front desk staff handle midnight check-ins across two massive towers.

The Sound and Flow of 758 Guest Rooms

Running a small inn teaches you that sound is the single hardest thing to manage in hospitality. In a guesthouse with six bedrooms, a single creaky floorboard or a poorly latched fire door can disrupt half your guests. When I stepped into Caesars Windsor, my eye immediately went to the physical layout designed to cushion 758 guest rooms spread across two distinct structures.

The property consists of two separate high-rise wings built a decade apart. The Forum Tower opened in 1998 with 389 rooms, while the Augustus Tower added 369 rooms in 2008. If you compare Forum vs Augustus, the two towers offer different guest layouts when returning after a performance at The Colosseum.

As an innkeeper, I look closely at the threshold of every room. In large commercial properties along the Detroit River, keeping city noise and hall echo out of the bedroom determines whether a guest wakes up rested or annoyed at sunrise.

Housekeeping Carts and Morning Rhythms

In a small lodge, housekeeping happens in plain sight. In a resort operating 758 rooms, it is a coordinated military exercise. On standard mornings between 9:00 am and 11:00 am, service carts line the corridors. A host notices how those carts are stocked and parked. If carts block primary elevator passageways or emergency doors, floor management is lagging.

Room sizing also dictates how efficiently a housekeeping team can work. The standard Luxury Rooms in the Augustus Tower measure approximately 402 square feet, furnished with single King beds, separate bathtubs, and glass-enclosed showers. Meanwhile, the larger Junior Suites span roughly 615 square feet with marble tile foyer entrances. Cleaning marble and glass enclosed showers requires twice as many linen swaps and specialized surface care compared to basic acrylic tub setups. How clean those bathroom glass panels remain across hundreds of daily turn-overs is the truest test of housekeeping and the front desk supervision.

Registered hotel guests staying in either wing also receive complimentary access to the indoor pool, whirlpool, fitness centre, and sauna on the second floor of the Forum Tower. Managing pool towel replenishment between the second-floor wellness facilities and upper-level guest rooms requires continuous laundry cycles running behind service doors 24 hours a day.

The Front Desk at Late Hours

A front desk desk at 11:00 pm tells you everything about hotel operations. That is when show crowds disperse, border traffic eases off the bridge, and night staff take over. At Caesars Windsor, late arrivals frequently arrive via Riverside Drive after crossing the border. Drivers using the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel or the new Gordie Howe International Bridge—which opened to traffic on 27 July 2026—often arrive fatigued with vehicles full of luggage.

A host pays attention to how the arrival arrival flow is handled. Self-parking sits in a six-floor attached garage located at 257 Glengarry Avenue, offering free 24-hour parking. Valet parking operates at 136 McDougall Street. Watching valet attendants manage vehicle queues during late-night peak hours demonstrates how well the property handles ground transportation.

Because Ontario provincial regulations require guests to be 19 years of age or older with valid government photo ID to enter the casino floor, security checkpoints sit at all main entrances connecting the parking garage, hotel lobbies, and gaming areas. Minors cannot step onto the gaming floor. Seeing security staff handle age verification calmly and efficiently without creating long lobby queues is another operational mark a guesthouse operator appreciates.

Dining, Corridors, and Quiet Corners

A property measuring over 100,000 square feet of gaming and meeting space must balance bustling commercial zones with quiet guest retreats. When reviewing restaurants on-site, a host notes how noise carries from venue entrances into public corridors. Dining choices range from counter-service options like Café 377 and the 24-hour Tim Hortons in the Forum Tower to sit-down venues such as Spago Trattoria or Neros Steakhouse. Nightlife options also evolve over time; notably, the Ariius nightclub left the casino resort in January 2026, relocating to downtown Windsor.

Slot machine counts across the 100,000-square-foot floor are not printed here because public industry sources conflict significantly on exact figures. However, table games include a dedicated 14-table poker room operating 24 hours a day alongside the Caesars Sportsbook space. Keeping gaming noise contained on the lower levels while preserving quiet acoustic zones in the upper towers requires careful building insulation and thoughtful floorplan design.

Whether you are planning a one-night trip from Michigan or a longer stay in Ontario, observing these small operational details helps you pick the right wing, the right floor, and the right time to check in.
