A Show Night in the Augustus Tower: An Innkeeper’s Timeline

When five thousand people arrive for an evening concert at Caesars Windsor, the property transforms. Having spent years managing arrivals and departures, I look at a show night through the practical rhythm of a stay: securing a room in the Augustus Tower, setting a realistic dinner timeline, navigating the corridors to the theatre, and waking up to the morning light over the river.

Settling into the Augustus Tower Before the House Lights Dim

A successful evening begins long before the main act takes the stage. On a concert night, the drive into downtown Windsor requires extra patience as traffic builds near the waterfront. I prefer to pull directly into the attached six-floor self-parking garage at 257 Glengarry Avenue, where parking remains free 24 hours a day for guests. If you opt for valet service at 136 McDougall Street, hotel guests pay daily fees, with higher rates on weekends and show days. Valet is complimentary for Caesars Rewards Seven Stars and Diamond cardholders.

Opened in 2008 as the property’s second tower, the Augustus houses 369 guest rooms and suites across 27 storeys. In comparison, the original 1998 Forum Tower holds 389 rooms. The Augustus standard room—listed as a Resort Room or Luxury Room—spans 402 square feet and features a single King bed, a 42-inch television, an in-room safe, and a bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower. What I appreciate as a host is the sound containment on high-occupancy evenings.

Before heading down to dinner, it is wise to double-check your tickets and carry valid government-issued photo ID. Under Ontario law, casino entry is strictly 19 and older, and security staff actively verify age at every access point leading onto the 100,000-square-foot gaming floor. Minors are not permitted on the casino floor, so if you are travelling with family, stick to the main hotel concourses and Augustus Tower elevators.

Timing Dinner and the Walk to The Colosseum

One common oversight on event nights is underestimating restaurant wait times. When 5,000 ticket holders are all attempting to dine between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, table seating fills rapidly across the property’s dining outlets. If you plan to dine at restaurants on-site such as Neros Steakhouse or Spago Trattoria, booking ahead or arriving early is essential.

For a quicker pre-show bite, counter-service options like Café 377 or the 24-hour Tim Hortons on the main floor of the Forum Tower offer a faster turnaround. Keep in mind that Ariius Nightclub moved out of the property in January 2026 to a new venue on Ouellette Avenue, so evening entertainment inside the resort now centers entirely around The Colosseum, Cosmos Lounge, and the main floor bars.

The physical walk from an Augustus Tower room to the theatre entrance is straightforward but involves broad concourses. Moving through the wide hallways from the Augustus elevators past the pre-function meeting spaces brings you right toward the entrance of the 5,000-seat auditorium. The theatre design ensures that no seat is farther than 225 feet from the stage, giving even rear-tier seats an intimate view of the performer. This provides ample opportunity to find your section without rushing through crowd bottlenecks.

After the Curtain: Navigating the Floor and Returning to Your Room

When the final encore ends and five thousand people pour out into the concourses simultaneously, the casino floor reaches its peak energy for the night. The transit spaces immediately surrounding the theatre doors become dense. Guests looking to visit the gaming floor will find over 80 table games—including live craps, blackjack, and roulette—alongside a dedicated 14-table poker room operating 24 hours a day, and the 1,700-square-foot Caesars Sportsbook. While official figures on slot machine counts vary across industry listings, the two-level gaming floor holds a vast selection of electronic gaming terminals.

For those who prefer a quiet retreat straight after the show, the advantage of staying in the Augustus Tower becomes clear. By keeping to the hotel elevator banks rather than the central casino walkways, you can step out of the crowd within minutes. The high-speed elevators move guests efficiently back to their floor, away from the bells and music of the gaming level.

If you enjoy a late-night cup of tea or a cold bottle of water in the room, it is worth noting that room amenities vary by category. Higher categories like the Resort Deluxe Suite (855 square feet) and Executive Suite include wet bars or hydrotherapy tubs. Reviewing our guide to rooms can help you match the specific layout to your preferred level of post-show comfort.

Morning Light over the Detroit River

Waking up in an Augustus Tower riverview room offers one of the finest perspectives in Ontario hospitality: morning light reflecting off the Detroit River and highlighting the downtown Detroit skyline directly across the water.

For morning leisure, guests staying in Augustus Luxury Rooms receive complimentary access to the health club facilities located in the Forum Tower. Heading across to the second floor of the Forum Tower brings you to the indoor pool, whirlpool, fitness centre, and sauna. The pool deck features wide windows facing the skyline, making an early morning swim a calm way to clear the head after an evening show.

Before checking out, run through a quick guest checklist: review your room folio via the television or front desk, collect any valeted vehicle, and ensure all travel documents are ready if you are crossing the border into Michigan via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel or the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
